A Magione non può mancare una visita alla Torre dei Lambardi (o Lombardi), edificata tra il XII e il XIII secolo, raggiungibile facilmente a piedi dal centro del borgo e immersa in un bel parco. La torre è alta circa 30 metri e ha una forma quadrangolare; la sua struttura interna è divisa in tre piani e due semipiani, con una terrazza alla sommità da cui si gode di uno splendido panorama. Era in passato un punto strategico decisamente rilevante, e fu al centro di violente battaglie nel corso dell’epoca tardo medievale. Doveva trattarsi di una fortezza formidabile, favorita dalla sua altezza e da uno zoccolo a forma di bastione alla base. Edificata in origine dai Cavalieri Gerosolimitani, gli attuali Cavalieri del Sovrano Militare Ordine di Malta, aveva l’importante funzione di garantire o bloccare il flusso delle derrate alimentari destinate a Perugia, in particolare il pesce proveniente dalla sponda settentrionale del Lago Trasimeno (fonte umbriatourism.it) .
