2015-02-22, ore 14.39, a 200mm/eq. 300mm Maslenitsa (delle radici pagani) si festeggia nella settimana immediatamente precedente la Quaresima e corrisponde per la maggior parte al carnevale. La festa dura una settimana ed è piena di giochi, colori e vari divertimenti, i ragazzi si divertono lanciandosi da scivoli di ghiaccio. Dato che la religione ortodossa vieta il consumo di latticini, burro (in russo máslo) e di uova durante la Quaresima, Maslenitsa rappresenta l'ultima occasione per gustare questi prodotti, per esempio, blini (crespelle) a base di burro, uova etc. il culmine della festa si ha nella giornata di martedì (martedì grasso), un gradito addio alla neve in attesa della primavera.
