Un piccolo colibrì rubino-topazio danza fra i fiori sfoggiando la sua bellezza iridescente. Il maschio di questa specie è inconfondibile, con gola dorata e corona rosso rubino, ma catturare i colori cangianti delle sue piume è una sfida per ogni fotografo perché divengono visibili solo quando la luce lo colpisce frontalmente o quasi. Si trova in habitat aperti e non è facile osservarlo perché abitualmente non frequenta gli alimentatori. L'ho ricercato in un campo dove si trovavano molti fiori di Leonotis nepetifolia ed ho atteso a lungo prima di riuscire ad ottenere uno scatto valido che mostrasse tutta la sua bellezza. La natura ha creato un'opera d'arte perfetta. Specie al suo esordio nel forum. Buga, Valle del Cauca, Colombia Luglio 2025.
