Tutte le dieci specie di Cua esistenti fanno parte del genere Coua, cuculiformi endemici del Madagascar. Sono uccelli caratterizzati dalla lunga coda e dalle lunghe zampe e dalla presenza di una parte nuda del viso colorata. Esistono due clade di Cua, le specie arboree e le specie terricole come questo Cua fronterossa. Gli esemplari adulti sono di colore blu-verde scuro, con vertice rossiccio e parte nuda del viso azzurra. Questa specie è molto elusiva e furtiva e pertanto difficile da osservare e fotografare in natura; si trova infatti solitamente nei grovigli più densi del sottobosco delle foreste pluviali della parte orientale dell'isola.
