La grotta di San Giovanni con i suoi 860 metri di strada interna è classificata come la grotta carrozzabile più lunga al mondo, unico caso in Italia e uno dei 7 casi al mondo.E' una grotta suggestiva in cui è possibile ammirare il fenomeno carsico. Dal punto di vista geologico l'intera area è databile a 530 milioni di anni fa, formata da rocce carbonatiche. Oltre all'agevole strada interna rimasta liberamente aperta al traffico automobilistico fino al 1999, che rappresenta il ramo principale, sono presenti anche dei rami secondari il cui accesso è riservato a speleologi esperti che comprendono: • Su stampu de pireddu • Ramo Bobore Sommando il ramo principale a quelli secondari la grotta raggiunge uno sviluppo di 3920 metri. Prima della costruzione della strada interna, si ipotizza che venisse usata come rifugio e abitazione in quanto sono stati ritrovati manufatti e vasellame risalenti all'epoca neolitica e bizantina.
