Il campanile pendente di Prato A Prato Carnico, invece, c'è il campanile che pende, e pende proprio sulla strada che si percorre per entrare in Val Pesarina. Impossibile non notarlo, perchè sembra debba cadere da un momento all'altro. Invece è stabile e non ha alcun problema di tenuta. Il suo stato è dovuto al filone di gesso su cui poggia. Cosa è successo a questa torre? In base alla documentazione di archivio, sembra che il campanile pendente sia stato eretto nello stesso periodo in cui fu edificata l'antica chiesa parrocchiale, demolita poi nel 1859; la chiesa si ergeva vicino al vecchio cimitero. Il campanile è stato danneggiato dalle scosse del terremoto del 28 luglio 1700 e al tempo si resero necessari diversi lavori di restauro. Ma allora il campanile già pendeva perchè poggia, appunto, su un filone instabile di gesso. Subito dopo la sua edificazione si è "piegato" e si è assestato definitivamente. Non c'è pericolo di crollo: non a caso la strada che si snoda ai suoi piedi si percorre senza accorgimenti particolari, né c'è segnaletica che indica condizioni di scarsa sicurezza.
