Shadows that come close ... shadows receding ... Who can say with certainty ... perhaps the only musician with her gaze turns away :)

this is my humble interpretation ... compliments to the author instead are obviously Taken

a greeting

Ciao
Luca

The shadows of life are the ones that lead us to important decisions, but it is said that they remain shadows, they can also detect light. One shot that hits for the excellent composition and cleanliness.

Hello
Luca

Ciao e buona luce, lauro

More than in the "Travel Reportage", I would see this in "Street" as it is does not have elements that lead back to a precise location. (Imho).
Point of recovery, tridimensonalità, colors, maf, composition, play of light / shadow to the top!
Hello and good light, laurel

Felux, Landerjack, Lauro, thank you for your very welcome comments. As I wrote in the post, I was very impressed with the homeless of Lisbon. This gentleman, with great dignity, she was performing in a subway from parts of Belem, the shot has, quite by chance, immortalized his eyes that seemed to wander in the distant past (represented by the shadows of the people coming down the stairs), when still owned a home, a job and maybe love.

Sometimes life holds for us what you like, but sometimes events may precipitate and, in just a short time, we can lose everything.

buona notte

excuse the 'OT, but lately I saw the movie "Legend of the Holy Drinker" by E. Olmi and R. Hauer, shall not enter anything, but tells of just such a situation ...

good night

Ciao

Sorry Pisolomau but are you sure that this man is a "homeless"?
What do I do for a living reportage seems not.
He ironed shirt, shaved and combed straight out from the barber etc.
The picture is not all bad, congratulations.
But I do not see all this sadness, in fact, more than shadows of life I see just the opposite.
The serene look of the musician and the figures of the two women who seem to dance to his music
send me the exact opposite.
So congratulations for the photo, a little 'less for the interpretation ;-)

Sure not, but from what little I understood in my broken Portuguese accordion and a few clothes that were the few belongings. He lives on alms, and not very well if he had to pass.
I met often homeless, elegant and well kept, that does not give up their dignity even in dress, are years that follow them and photograph them even though few of the photos that I place them, a bit of modesty and a little bit of respect for their dignity. These are, perhaps, less sad than others and so I posted.

This is a wonderful photo reportage. Great time of the shot, the subject looks desolate with the people who pass (beautiful shadows of passers-by on the wall, a rarity!)
Ultimately you have composed the photo, the subject and see shadows, who manages to make you understand everything that is happening, congratulations.

Thanks Matthew, Fulvio and Brie, the intent was just that and, as always, in shots like this it takes the essential element: the ass:-D

Without those shadows in effect would have lost some of its meaning.

I must add that this shot made me a lot of headaches in PP, the dynamic range was huge, almost total darkness to the left of the subject and a powerful beam of light coming from the stairs and lit up his face and part of the instrument.
I used the luminosity mask to polish a lot of the highlights and open up the shadows, also I have not opted for the black and white because I loved the tone of red accordion and the pink handkerchief poking out of the hat that gave some color to a scene almost monotone.

With this I hope I have also completedthe technical side Taken

PS for those interested in the luminosity mask, I report my post: www.juzaphoto.com/topic2.php?f=37&t=51316

Lui guarda persone ma incontra solo ombre. Bellissima, come le altre fotografie della galleria.
Un saluto, Giuseppe.

He looks at people but meets only shadows. Beautiful, like the other pictures in the gallery.
All the best, Joseph.
