In questo periodo di accoppiamento e riproduzione, è frequente incontrare questi batraci lungo i fossi o nelle zone umide, spesso in attraversamento di strade e viottoli. Per loro l'attraversamento di queste strutture è sempre pericoloso e si tratta di specie in pericolo d'estinzione, per cui vanno aiutati e protetti. Inutile ricordare quanto siano utili perché si cibano d'insetti e mantengono importanti equilibri ecologici.
