Dopo le opere di Giuseppe Veneziano vi propongo un primo intermezzo. Il Battistero di Pietrasanta, conosciuto anche come Oratorio di San Giacinto, si trova in via Garibaldi nel centro storico cittadino a pochi passi dal Duomo di San Martino.

Si tratta di un edificio in stile barocco la cui costruzione si può datare tra il 1604 ed il 1615.
In origine non era un battistero e per questo motivo non aveva le due fonti battesimali che si possono ammirare oggi. Era, infatti, un oratorio dedicato a San Giacinto di proprietà della Confraternita del Santissimo Sacramento.

Le due fonti battesimali vennero trasferite nell'ex oratorio di San Giacinto dal vicino duomo. In particolare la vasca esagonale è opera di Bonuccio Pardini e risale al 1389. Quella a forma di tabernacolo è del 1509 quando il lavoro fu affidato a Donato Venti e Nicola Civitali.

Fu dopo il 1786 con la soppressione di tutte le confraternite da parte del Granduca di Toscana Pietro Leopoldo che passò alla proprietà dell'opera del Duomo.

Degli interni originari del 1600 rimane la pala d'altare di Filippo Martelli dal titolo “Eucarestia e angeli adornati” del 1636.

Altare, balaustre e acquasantiere sono opera di Giuseppe Maria Castepoggi da Carrara e risalgono al XVIII secolo.

Volta e pareti rappresentano scene della vita di Cristo rappresentate da Pietro Cavatorta.
