Inizia la discesa dal Monte Penna verso il Santuario della Verna. Dopo un primo breve tratto di discesa, appena lasciata la cappella sulla cima del Monte Penna, il percorso si fa piuttosto pianeggiante. Nel suo tratto di discesa dalla cima del Monte Penna al Santuario della Verna, il percorso CAI 051 si mostra diverso da come lo avevamo visto mentre salivamo. Scorre adesso tra vegete e grandi piante, ma meno maestose di quelle che avevamo incontrato in precedenza.

Camminiamo in una discesa praticamente costante, ma regolare.

Il fondo del sentiero è molto più omogeneo perché massi e pietre "scultoree" hanno lasciato molto più spazio alla terra, si è fatto insomma più "morbido".

Questo è l'unico punto dove un turista o un amante del trekking possono godersi uno scorcio panoramico sull'insieme del complesso conventuale del Santuario Francescano "intra Tevero e Arno".

Una piccola curiosità: La Verna ha 11.000 metri quadrati di tetti. Tutti con diversi secoli di vita. Solo l'ordinaria manutenzione di questi non è impegno da poco.

A conclusione del nostro percorso siamo giunti all'uscita del Santuario, dove due panchine ai piedi di maestosi faggi ci accolgono per un ultimo riposo prima di avviarsi ai vicini parcheggi.

Queste due panchine saranno il punto d'arrivo della prossima camminata con il doppio anello del sentiero natura "Al Sacro Monte de la Verna".
Con partenza dal paese Chiusi della Verna, percorrendo il "bosco delle fate" ed il sentiero Frassati o "anello basso de la Verna"
