Lumix TZ20- Sul lago Assale, nella depressione dancalica, l'acqua si sposta periodicamente in base ai venti, lasciando uno strato di sale che viene cavato a mano da manovalanza tigrina, proveniente dall'altopiano, mentre i ricchi Afar, popolazione nomade che controlla il territorio e proprietaria di mandrie di dromedari, organizza il lavoro e il trasporto verso la città di Makallè. La costruzione di una strada asfaltata e la discesa del prezzo del sale sta portando alla scomparsa di questa attività.
