Novembre 2020 - Una pernice bianca perfettamente mimetizzata nel suo ambiente. Fortunatamente sui versanti nord era ancora presente la neve di ottobre, ultimamente non sempre va così però. La Pernice Bianca è un uccello straordinario con incredibili adattamenti per sopravvivere a condizioni climatiche estremamente fredde. Fino a pochi anni fa era ritenuta in un buono stato di conservazione; oggi è invece inserita in Italia nella lista rossa delle specie a rischio di estinzione come specie "Vulnerabile". Le cause principali di questa situazione critica sono i cambiamenti climatici, la parziale riduzione dei pascoli ad alta quota, ma anche un turismo spesso non sostenibile che disturba questi splendidi animali nel loro habitat naturale, sia d'inverno che in estate. Ultima, ma non meno pericolosa, la caccia: la pernice bianca infatti in Italia è ancora tra le specie cacciabili nelle regioni alpine. Fortunatamente, in Valle d'Aosta (regione tutt'altro che lungimirante ed attenta dal punto di vista venatorio) la caccia alla pernice bianca e alla lepre variabile è da quest'anno sospesa per almeno 5 stagioni venatorie.
