Sera del 22 luglio 2018, dopo una giornata calda estiva sulle Alpi svizzere (canton Vallese) alla sera si scatena un temporale piuttosto povero di fulmini nella valle di fronte a me. Nella speranza di riuscire a beccare almeno un fulmine preparo l'attrezzatura, monto la macchina sul manfrotto, effettuo i dovuti settaggi alla svelta e punto la reflex verso la valle davanti a me. Setto la macchina a 20, 30 secondi (i fulmini erano davvero pochi).... primo tentativo a vuoto.... secondo tentativo niente.... il terzo idem.... la macchina scatta ma a vuoto.... nessun fulmine.... eppure il temporale è li.... ogni tanto qualche debole bagliore tra le nubi ma la saetta non arriva.... guardo l'ora e mi rendo conto che in mezz'ora di tentativi tutti sono andati a vuoto.... il temporale sembra morto.... eppure nel silenzio della serata, sento il rumore scrosciante della pioggia che cade a poca distanza da me.... ultimo tentativo prima di rientrare in casa........ CLICK! comincio a esultare grossomodo come quando Grosso battè l'ultimo rigore nel 2006.... dopodiché il temporale cessa definitivamente.
