Orthetrum brunneum (Fonscolombe, 1837) DESCRIZIONE I maschi maturi di questo Orthetrum hanno il corpo completamente azzurro ma non possiedono la colorazione parzialmente gialla delle nervature radiale e costale che contraddistingue O.nitidinerve. Le femmine presentano una evidente bandeggiatura toracica beige, una sottile linea nera dorsalmente all'addome, affiancata da due macchiette nere su ciascun segmento e l'ottavo segmento addominale con margini laterali arrotondati ed estesi ventralmente. ECOLOGIA Vola da aprile a settembre ed è più frequente nel mese di luglio. Le larve si sviluppano in acque debolmente correnti di fossi, canali e lanche, ma anche in acque ferme di stagni, paludi e laghi, di preferenza con scarsa vegetazione acquatica, dalla pianura a oltre 1000 metri.
