Il faro è una costruzione a pianta rotonda che era stata originariamente ideata dagli inglesi durante il loro periodo di occupazione dell'isola di Cefalonia. La costruzione originaria risaliva al 1820 ma, distrutta dai terremoti, venne ricostruita in tempi più moderni secondo quella che era la sua vecchia pianta.
