Il Villaggio Nuragico di Tiscali venne scelto dalle antiche popolazioni sarde per la sua posizione strategica e difensiva rispetto ai territori circostanti: aspro, alto e difficilissimo da raggiungere, con acqua praticamente assente. Oggi è possibile raggiungerlo attraverso diversi percorsi, tra cui il presente a partire da Oliena. A metà percorso, una fenditura larga poco più di un metro permette l'accesso all'ultima parte del percorso che porta all'antichissimo insediamento, meta oggi di turisti da tutto il mondo.
