Oggi si celebra la Domenica delle Palme, che segna l'inizio della Settimana Santa. La ricorrenza, ricorda l'entrata trionfale di Gesù a Gerusalemme, quando la folla osannante, lo accolse sventolando rami di palma, simbolo di trionfo. Ancora oggi, nel rispetto di questa antichissima tradizione ebraica, c'è l'usanza di distribuire rametti di ulivo e di palma benedetti durante la liturgia della Domenica delle Palme in segno di pace e prosperità. E speriamo che arrivi un po' di pace anche in questo nostro, vecchio mondo turbato da violenze, guerre, omicidi. L'albero di ulivo che vedete nella foto, si trova nella campagna della mia famiglia, e mi è particolarmente caro, perché negli assolati pomeriggi di giugno nel lontano 1968, mi rifugiavo sotto la sua ombra accogliente a studiare, per prepararmi agli esami di maturità.
