Rappresenta il balcone della città ed è il più artistico degli otto ponti che cavalcano il Canal Vena, l'equivalente del Ponte di Rialto di Venezia. Fu costruito in muratura nel 1685 sotto il podestà Morosini ed abbellito nel 1762 con marmi d'Istria, in sotituzione di quello in legno, sul quale si combattè aspramente durante la guerra di Chioggia (1379-80). Un tempo vi era collocato un fanale come segnale di orientamento per i naviganti
