Il nome generico (campanula) deriva dalla forma a campana del fiore; in particolare il vocabolo deriva dal latino e significa: piccola campana. Il nome specifico (cervicaria) deriva dalla parola latina "cervix" (= cervice, collo, nuca) e potrebbe far riferimento a qualche proprietà medicamentosa nella zona cervicale. Comunemente è chiamata Campanula ruvida. Anticamente si usavano le parti aeree per le loro proprietà antisettiche, astringenti e rinfrescanti, buoni per curare l'angina, per gargarismi e per alleviare i dolori in genere. I principi attivi sono l'inulina e la vitamina C. Oggi è caduta in disuso. Questa campanula, insieme ad altre, viene usata per scopi ornamentali. Scatto effettuato nel Luglio 2016 in Val di Fassa (Dolomiti).
