Ogni 2-3 giorni chiedevo alla mia guida 'ma è difficile vedere l'anaconda?' e la sua risposta era quasi sempre 'ogni tanto si vedono attraversare la Transpantaneira, verso Porto Jofre, ma è difficile, 10-20% di possibilità', non so se era pessimista per non illudermi, ma così è stato! Questo esemplare di anaconda gialla, abbastanza giovane, ha attraversato la Transpantaneira mentre stavano andando a Porto Jofre per i giaguari. La Transpantaneira era nata per collegare il Mato Grosso con il sud, ma poi i lavori furono interrotti e la strada finisce a Porto Jofre, trasformandosi in una strada percorsa solo da turisti. Anche se ero molto vicino ho voluto mettere in risalto la lunghezza del serpente e quindi fornire un'apertura più di ampio respiro, a scapito della testa dell'anaconda che comunque è sorprendentemente più piccola del resto del corpo.
