La Cappella di Santa Barbara sorge dietro l'abside del Duomo, fu consacrata nel 1450 ed aveva la funzione di cappella funeraria del preesistente cimitero. Si tratta di una costruzione gotica a pianta ottagonale e munita di cripta al piano inferiore. All'interno della cappella, oltre all'elegante volta a stella, pregevole l'altare maggiore seicentesco di legno dipinto a finto marmo con al centro la pala raffigurante S. Barbara, opera del pittore meranese Matthias Pussjager. Accanto, l'altare gotico a portelle in legno intagliato e dorato della fine del XV secolo, acquistato per la cappella nel 1895.
