Il monumento a Giuseppe Mazzini (1805-1872) fu eseguito da Luigi Belli (1844-1919) e collocato, nel 1917, sullo spiazzo di via Andrea Doria. Lo statista, fondatore della Giovine Italia, siede su un altare civile ornato con i nomi dei sui sostenitori e con i simboli della repubblica romana. Oggi il monumento si erge fiero in mezzo a quella che è diventata una delle piazzette pedonali della città più "bazzicate" dai giovani, che hanno fatto della maestosa scultura e dei gradoni perimetrali del suo basamento, uno spontaneo ed appartato punto di ritrovo
