Il soggetto in primo piano rimane però interessantissimo!

Perchè non provi in questi casi anche uno scatto verticale per:
1) riprendere i piedi
2) "eliminare" uno sfuocato "poco interessante"
chissà che viene fuori!
Anche io tendo (e molto ahimè) a scattare in orizzontale..
(Curiosissimo di vedere i tuoi lavori con l'85)

Why not try these cases even a shot vertical:
1) take the foot
2) "eliminate" one focus "uninteresting"
who knows what comes out!
Also I tend (and very unfortunately) to shoot horizontally ..

lo scatto in questione e' come al solito di alto livello e di notevole impatto.
Anche secondo me i piedi ci potevano anche stare dentro
Concordo con te che i tagli verticali sono piu' indicati per ritratti stretti dove lo sfondo non ha molto peso.
Tu lamenti uno sfuocato non molto interessante in questa foto. Bhe, amico mio la fisica non segue il gusto personale. Voglio dire che uno scatto eseguito con un 35 a f1.4 su una figura quasi intera (dunque un pochino distante per le capacita di un 35mm) non puo' produrti uno sfuocato migliore di quello che c'e' in questa foto. Sicuramente se avessi scattato questa foto con il 135mm allora avresti avuto uno sfuocato come lo vuoi tu di solito. Oppure con un taglio piu' stretto anche il 35 ti avrebbe dato lo sfuocato desiderato (come del resto in tantissime delle tue stupende foto).
Tutto cio per dirti che la foto e' molto bella e non c'e' nulla che non va e che la mano e l'attrozzo hanno reso come dovevano!

I agree with you that the vertical cuts are more 'suitable for tight portraits where the background does not have much weight.
You laments one focus is not very interesting in this picture. Well, my friend, the physics does not follow the personal taste. I mean that clicks performed with a 35 f1.4 on a figure almost whole (therefore a bit far for a capacity of 35mm) can not 'produce you one focus better than what there' in this photo. Surely if I took this picture with the 135mm then you would have had one focus as you like it usually. Or with a cut more 'tight even 35 would have given the desired focus (as indeed in many of your wonderful photos).
All this to tell you that the photo and 'very beautiful and there' nothing wrong and that the hand and the attrozzo made as they should!

a me piace anche lo sfocato , se proprio vogliamo trovare n pelo su uovo, ma non è stato facile, i piedi sarebbe stato bello fossero compresi. Comunque come sempre ad altissimo livello.
