Il Landini testa calda veniva avviato girando il volano a mano dopo aver riscaldato il motore facendo un piccolo falò sotto alla testa del motore. Se il motore partiva all'incontrario c'era un sistema per farlo arrivare al punto morto e farlo tornare indietro girando nell'altro verso.
