Our birding tour company in Panama is heavily involved in wildlife conservation. They have worked for/with the Peregrine Fund and captive breeding and release of Harpy Eagles amongst other conservation efforts. This Black Hawk Eagle is an injured bird that was being tended to in the home of one of the directors of the tour company. At the time of the photograph the bird was beginning to be to fly short distances and is/was ultimately set for release back into the wild in Panama. We were lucky to be able to get so close to this beautiful raptor.
