Torre del Paine, Cile, sveglia alle 05.00 per raggiungere prima dell'alba con la nostra guida Mauricio (tra le poche guide ad aver ottenuto il permesso per la ricerca del Puma). Iniziamo il nostro safari in Jeep, eravamo in due a cercare questa elusiva specie, noi e la BBC. Abbiamo assistito ad una scena naturalistica incredibile. Due giovani di circa 7 mesi erano in attesa della madre, Petaca. Ad un tratto avvistammo la femmina di Puma in lontananza con una grossa Lepre chiamare i suoi figli, che in un attimo corsero da lei. Eravamo li con loro, senza creare nessun disturbo a distanza. Abbiamo assistito all'incontro tra la madre e i suoi figli. Il giovane maschio iniziò a giocare con Petaca, la giovane femmina iniziò il suo allenamento di caccia con la Lepre. Momenti vissuti indimenticabili. L'incrocio di sguardi emozionati con il cameraman della BBC ha confermato che avevamo assistito a qualcosa di unico e probabilmente irripetibile. Siamo stati con Petaca e la sua famiglia circa 2 ore, momenti che ricorderemo per sempre. Two youngsters of about 7 months were expecting their mother, Petaca. Suddenly we spotted the female Puma in the distance with a large Hare calling her children, who in an instant ran to her. We were there with them, without creating any disturbance from a distance. We witnessed the meeting between her mother and her children. The young male began to play with Petaca, the young female began her hunting training with the Hare. Unforgettable moments lived. The meeting of excited glances with the BBC cameraman confirmed that we had witnessed something unique and probably unrepeatable. We stayed with Petaca and her family for about 2 hours, moments that we will always remember. Probably one of the most amazing and exciting naturalistic scenes we have ever experienced.
