Subjects : Seaside subjects, landscape from sea level to cliff-side. Whitby is also the home of Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker's "Dracula." You can also catch the North York Moors Railway, an old steam railway, and pass through the Goathland train station. This was the set location for the Hogsmead Station in one of the Harry Potter films.

Recommended equipment : Wide angle, telephoto, split and neutral density filters, polarizer and tripod.

Best months : We were there in July and the weather was great. We also were there on a full moon, which was really cool to place behind Whitby Abbey at night.

How to get there : You can get there by rail, car, boat or foot. We started a three-day walk down the Cleveland Way foot path to Scarborough. Awesome!

Visits : Visiting the Whitby Pier and surrounding area is free. There is a fare for the North York Moors Railway, and lodging and food are a given.
