Subjects : The Penwith was a local district of Cornwall, England based in Penzance, on the extreme tip of the peninsula. The district was created by the Local Government Act 1972, April, 1974 by the merger of Penzance and St Ives municipal districts with West Penwith Rural District and St Just City District. It was abolished in 2009 with changes to the administrative subdivision in England. Within it are among the most beautiful natural sights and not just of the whole of Cornwall. The famous cliff of Land'end, the most point to the west of England, is It is located in this district even if somewhat crowded from the tourist point of view. Another great attraction is the castle of St. Michael's Mount ancient abbey which is reachable on foot depending on the low tide from the village in front of Marazion. How to forget about the town of St.Ives with its turquoise bay and the beautiful galleries of painters flocking its streets and its promenade ... it is a shame though that wild mass tourism is ruining it. But if you want to give Wilder and less touristic tune to your trip do not miss the cliffs of the ancient Botallack Mine mines ... a truly wild and fascinating place, the one that struck me most of the whole of Cornwall, where you walk through ancient mining waste minerals overlooking the ocean Amidst imposing cliffs, here tourism is only niche and strongly Anglo-Saxon.

Recommended equipment : Wide-angle reflex for photos on cliffs. Zoom more or less for details or to resume the fauna that crowds the cliffs of birds and seals. Stand for long exposures on the cliffs.

Best months : Spring and especially summer. Keep in mind that the weather is very variable, alternating clouds and water splashes at great moments of light. It takes a lot of patience and time.

How to get there : By plane from Bristol about 200 km, which can be reached by several Italian airports, especially with Easy Jet. From London we are a long way away. Other possible point of arrival is Bournemouth and then make 300 km of car. If you are afraid you will do a Beautiful traveled in the car for about twenty hours as I did. From Pisa about 2000 km I went across France and I boarded the train in the Eurotunnel to Calais destination Folkestone, about half an hour crossed by which you do not notice anything and then another 500 miles to reach the ocean in Cornwall. Absolutely the Eurotunnel is expensive but it's a great fuss !! If not you take the Calais-Dover ship 1 and a half.

Visits : Land's End-Botallack Mine-St.Ives-St.Just-Penzace -Marazion-St. Michael's Mount (entrance ticket) -The Sennen Bay

Notes : The stages of my trip: 3-8 departure from Pisa at 14.00 / 4-8 arrival at Calais Eurotunnel at 03.30 and boarding in direction Folkeston at 05.30. I arrived at Porthleven our village this really nice at about 4 pm / 5-8 hiking Lizard village-kynance Cove-Lizard village 10km Wonderful / 6-8 Porthleven-Land's end Sennen Cove-Botallak Mine-Porthleven / 7-8 Porthleven- Marazion-St. Michael's Mount-Truro-Porthleven / 8-8 Porthleven-St. Ives-Botallack Mine-Portheleven / 9-8 Porthleven-Tintagel Castle-Boscastle-Pothleven / 10-8 hiking Kynance Cove-Predannack Wollas-Kynance Cove 11km Wonderful / 11-8 transfer to the pretty Dorset where I spent another five days in the village of Evershot. Total km 5416. I stayed at the Ebenezer Cottages in Porthleven, a really nice resort on the Ocean.
