Subjects : Maccarese is part of the State Nature Reserve of the Roman Coast and borders the oasis of Castel di Guido. You can meet many species of passerines, and species adapted to life in fallow soils including the rare dovecote and larks. In the flooded canals and soils you can observe various species of ducks and waders.
