Subjects : Great place to photograph birds, mammals, reptiles and landscapes. There are ancient paintings from prehistory humans. Archeological and paleontological sites, and the Museum of the Americam Man.
The park is situated in a bioma called Caatinga, which means Mata Branca (White Woods). The Caatinga is an exclusive bioma from Brazil, and it's located between the Mata Atlantica (Atlantic Florest) in the east, which is a tropical rain florest in the brazilian coast, and the Floresta Amazonica (Amazon Florest)in the west, and the Cerrado (Brazilian Savanna) in the south.
Recommended equipment : Tripod, macro-tripod, zoom lenses, macro lenses, UV filter, lenses hoods, remote control, wide angle lenses.
Best months : During the rain seasons (end of the year) and dry seasons (august and september).
How to get there : If you plan to go by plane you'll have to go to Sao Raimundo Nonato, estate of Piauí, Brazil. And there you'll have to rent a 4x4 car to get to the best spots.
Visits : There is the park maintenance fee which is R$20,00 per day. But you cannot visit the park without a guide, which is R$75,00 per day for groups of 4 people maximum.
Notes : It's a very dry area, you should be prepared to endure long walks with high temperatures and low humidity levels, boots for hiking are important, and also hats, trousers, long sleeves t-shirts and sun blockers are indispensable!
Drink lots of water!
Take the first day to plan your visit to the park! It's a huge park and there are lots of things to see and photograph.
