Notes :The site (currently managed by the FAI) is a salt pan currently functioning and in normal activity; It is really worth a visit both from a landscape point of view (remarkable scenery with "lunar" colors and unusual for those who have never seen a salt pan and from a naturalistic point of view (flamingos and herons are numerous and the environment does not pose particular problems in terms of obstacles as the vegetation is practically absent). The train ride is highly recommended (the route is decidedly long and the sun of Sardinia in particular periods makes itself felt) during which the FAI guide explains in great depth both the issues related to production and the wildlife aspect. If you are lucky -as I was- you can enjoy the presence of Mr. Giorgio Lecca, the last survivor of the old salt pan. Now ninety years old (but he looks sixty...) he also explains on a technical level the various differences between the various passages of water between one tank and another from a chemical point of view. A real resource.
