Coordinates : 19.067156360448738, 53.14036686266925 (Open in Google Maps)

Subjects : It is a desert of sand dotted with very high multicolored sand dunes (the colors vary depending on the areas from white, to pink, to red), with a subparallel arrangement with high longitudinal development, called "Seif". The lines along which the dunes develop are often interspersed with light-colored wadis. Fauna: arachnids (meeting scorpions is far from uncommon), rodents and plants belonging to the succulent family.

Recommended equipment : Wide angle and canvas (200mm or 300mm for some landscapes)

Best months : Our winter: from October-November to January-February

How to get there : Via Muscat (the capital of Oman), it is advisable to reach Salalah, by land or by domestic flight. From Salalah, you can enter the governorate of Dhofar, towards the border with Saudi Arabia (most of the desert is located in Saudi territory)

Visits : Free admission. No opening hours.

Notes : The Rub' al-Khali, or "The empty fourth" ("fourth" understood as "fourth part" after sky, land and sea), is the largest sand desert in the world. It covers the southernmost part of the Arabian Peninsula.
