Subjects :About ten kilometers from Cuneo, on the state road 20 of colle di Tenda, stands the town of Roccavione, in a flat area located at the meeting point of the Gesso and Vermenagna Valleys. Some argue that the country is part of the Val Gesso. Characteristic of the village is the rock of San Sudario, the last offshoots of the divisive chain of valleys, cut to a peak for about one hundred meters high from its inhabited area. The hill is so dear to the Roccavionesi, which is present in its heraldic symbol, with above the tower that stood the village in medieval times, of which you can still visit the remains. Thick chestnut woods, rich in mushrooms, frame the village upstream, while downstream fields and meadows degrade towards the banks of the Gesso and Vermenagna Streams. The highway reaches the center of the village in Piazza Biagioni where there is an elm planted no more than a fortnight ago, instead of a fountain so dear to the young people of the village; from the square branch off the city streets: Via Fratelli Giordanengo, towards Limone Piemonte; Via Roma, in the direction of Roaschia, which changes in Via Luigi Barale at the parish church. Parallel to it flows Via della Repubblica on which is Piazza Don Chesta where there are schools and the library.
Recommended equipment :Snow wear in winter.
Best months :Autumn offers the classic colors of the woods, winter the white scenery surrounds you on each side, in summer beautiful valleys.
How to get there :Exit in Cuneo from the highway, take the highway to go towards Borgo San Dalmazzo, there after a few roundabouts you are in Roccavione
Visits :The whole territory is walkable free of charge.
