Subjects :Praia da Luz is a beach that stands in front of Luz, once a fishing village, about 6 km west of Lagos in the Portuguese Algarve region. Arriving on foot from Lagos, along the cliff path, you are struck by the Rocha Negra, a lava formation that emerges interrupting the limestone cliffs. From the seashore you can enjoy a view that ranges from Rocha Negra to the multicoloured cliffs that descend towards the beach in front of the village.
Recommended equipment :Any equipment is sufficient; a modest wide-angle enriches the possibilities.
Best months :The climate is temperate all year round; for more striking effects I would suggest low tide.
How to get there :You arrive by car but the cliff path from Lagos offers the most striking opportunities especially in the morning when the sun accentuates the contrast of the colors of the cliffs.
Visits :There is a small archaeological site with vestiges of Roman baths; entry is free.
