Coordinates : 43.146382, 10.855374 (Open in Google Maps)

Subjects : The whole park offers interesting photographic opportunities especially for the unusual landscape transformed by geothermal manifestations that have colored the ground from white to yellow ocher to intense red. The presence of numerous bushes of Brugo (Calluna vulgaris) and some cork trees (Quercus super) allows unusual framings in what can be called a landscape from Dante's inferno. Also the underlying village of Monterotondo Marittimo offers the typical views of the medieval Tuscan villages.

Recommended equipment : Certainly a wide-angle lens but also with the classic standard focal lengths you can take interesting pictures. For obvious reasons we must be careful not to bring the equipment to the numerous emissions of high temperature acid vapor.

Best months : Reaching the site in the presence of snow is rather complicated but interesting. I would exclude the hot summer days, perhaps September when it is still present the Brugo flowering may be the best time.

How to get there : From the new Aurelia between Grosseto and Livorno exit Follonica towards Massa Marittima and then Monterotondo Marittimo where there are signs to reach the park.

Visits : The park is always open and admission is free.

Notes : In the park there is a path delimited by chestnut poles from which it is inadvisable to exit due to the presence of high temperature steam and muddy pools in continuous bubbling.
