Rank : 9.0 (average on 2 votes)

If you know this place, give your vote:

Coordinates : 46.00599918477531, 9.196186826857817 (Open in Google Maps)

Subjects : From the summit of Mount Crocione you can admire a splendid 360-degree view; you can see the branches of Lake Como, the Grigne and various villages. Nearby there are various panoramic points (I recommend in particular the summit of Mount Galbiga) and the place lends itself well to the night.

Recommended equipment : Wide angle, standard zoom, tele zoom, tripod.

Best months : Spring, summer and autumn; it may be possible to climb even in winter, but it depends on the amount of snow and you have to be careful.

How to get there : Follow the SS340 to Argegno, then turn towards the mountains, towards San Fedele Intelvi; finally continue by car to the Boffalora Refuge or, if desired, also to the Venini Refuge. Attention! The last 10km of the road, from the village of Pigra to the Boffalora Refuge, are on an extremely narrow and dangerous road, when you cross cars in the opposite direction you have to make millimeter maneuvers to pass, with the serious risk of damaging the car. In addition, the road from Boffalora to Venini is devoid of guardrails. Once you have parked your car, I hope still whole, you reach the summit of Crocione with an easy walk of 50 minutes (from Venini) or just under two hours (from Boffalora).

Visits : Free and free visit, even the parking lots near the two shelters are free.
