Coordinates : 45.788415,7.757246 (Open in Google Maps)

Subjects : Being an area of ??five lakes located at different altitudes, subjects available are numerous and varied. Starting from the lakes themselves, they range from beautiful landscapes characterized by the peaks of the mountains that create and surrounding Val d'Ayas to the amazing variety of flowers and plants typical of the alpine environment. If you are lucky you can meet ibex and marmots.

Recommended equipment : Given the diversity of the equipment is not recommended. Definitely a good wide-angle lens is a must. If one is going to visit all five lakes advise you not to charge excessively because, although it is a smooth path in some places the slopes are rather pronounced.

Best months : The best time to make the most of the opportunities that the area is the spring / estate.I lower two lakes can be reached quite easily even in winter thanks to the presence of a large and well-marked trail, the three above, however, involve a good degree of difficulty and are suitable for more experienced.

How to get there : You reach the Val D'Aosta through the highway A5 (Torino-Aosta). Exit at Verres motorway and take the road to Val d'Ayas (following the directions for Brusson). Being the only road is hard to go wrong. After about 20 minutes of switchbacks we reach the town of Brusson, roughly in the middle of town, take the road to the right that leads to the ski lifts of Estoul. After about 5 km you reach a large parking lot where it is compulsory to deposit the machine and from there begins the real path to the lakes. All trails are well marked and do not present particular difficulties hiking. Following the trail No. 5 will encounter some pastures and begins to rise progressively to share. At the halfway point you can keep right (signposted 5D) and reach the lakes via the Arp refuge. E 'in my opinion should go left as the trail is easier and avoids to meet that often go off-road to bring supplies to the shelter. After about 1 hour and 30 minutes of walking you can reach the lower lakes (Lake Battle Lake and Green) at an altitude of 2,485 m. From here it is possible to achieve the three upper lakes in about 20 minutes of fairly steep path following the trail 3C (Pocia Lake and Long Lake) and 3D (Lake Colors) the portion of 2635 m.

Visits : The trail is free as is parking at the beginning of the path.

Notes : From the lake plateau (and Arp refuge nearby): there are numerous other trails from varying difficulty. Definitely worth seeing are the lakes of Valfredda (marking 5A and 5B) and the top of the Horn Compass (3C) with its 3022 M.Per it is advisable to excellent physical and overnight at the refuge Arp.
