Subjects : Two connected lakes with shallow banks, offering stunning views towards the Mont Blanc massif and surrounding mountains. Lot of ibex along the trail, stunning views towards the Chamonix valley. There are some smaller lakes along the way, which offer good photographic opportunities as well.

Recommended equipment : Wide-angle lens, tripod, lots of water for the hike

Best months : July, Sepember-October

How to get there : Park at Col de Montets, follow the trail leading uphill from across the parking lot - around 8km, and 980m of elevationAccess from Chamonix is also possible, but the trail has 1400m of elevation on similar length.

Visits : Free. There is a refuge next to the lake with hot water, showers and toilets.
