Subjects : The temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the god Sobek (the crocodile god, husband of the goddess Hator, associated with fertility, the Nile and healing), lends itself to filming especially at sunset, in the beautiful light of the sunset over the desert and the Nile. Obviously, as in the Egyptian tradition, it is located on the east bank of the river, the bank "of the living" and therefore at sunset it receives the light from the other side of the Nile. Like practically all Egyptian temples, it is completely covered with hieroglyphics that in themselves are of great aesthetic taste. In the museum attached to the temple you can see the mummies of crocodiles consecrated to the god.

Recommended equipment : Travel lenses, wide-angle or a little more, bright enough for night photos, when the temple is illuminated by rather warm lamps.

Best months : Temperatures are affordable in winter: February is a great month, but probably November too.

How to get there : Kom Ombo is one of the standard stops for Nile cruises (normally departing from Luxor), which I highly recommend both for the places to visit and for the enchanting banks of the river, with an absolutely particular vegetation and for the contrast between the blue of the water, the absolute blue of the sky, the variegated green of the vegetation and the yellow/brown of the sands and rocks of the desert. Of course, from Italy the means of transport of choice is the plane.

Visits : Admission is subject to a fee: currently it should cost from 5 to 10 euros.
