Jaisalmer Fort is one of the largest and best-preserved fortified cities in the world. The fort is located in the middle of the sandy expanse of the great Thar Desert.

Recommended equipment : It is a very small town, which offers many views. A light and inconspicuous kit is recommended. A zoom and a 50mm should suffice.

Best months : in winter, due to the very strong smells.

How to get there : Jaisalmer can be reached "comfortably" by car, except for the last part of the climb to the fort for which it will be necessary to take a rickshaw (tuctuc). Alternatively, it can be reached by train from Jodhpur and Delhi. It can be an idea to arrive by night train so that you can save a day's travel.

Visits : The fort is free to access. I recommend visiting a few temples as well, as they are among the most beautiful in all of India.
