Subjects :Hohnstein is a small village in a mountainous area near the river Elbe. From the country, and in particular from the castle, there are good panoramic views, but the best subject is the country itself: you can photograph it from a path just above the country, the best vantage point is at coordinates 50.980873, 14.112160
Recommended equipment :Wide-angle and standard zoom; Very high tripod (to be able to get the best shot in the middle of the branches that are along the path).
Best months :All year round.
How to get there :Hohnstein is easily reachable by car (half an hour from Dresden) or by train, arriving at Rathen and then walking along some beautiful woodland paths.
Visits :Free and free visit, except for some areas of the castle that can be visited for a fee.
Notes :I recommend staying at the Hotel Burg Hohnstein, located in the same castle and with very reduced prices (I in low season I paid 30 euros for a single with half board!).
