Subjects : Hikkaduwa is a seaside resort town in southwestern Sri Lanka. It's known for its strong surf and beaches, including palm-dotted Hikkaduwa Beach, lined with restaurants and bars. The shallow waters opposite Hikkaduwa Beach shelter the Hikkaduwa National Park, which is a coral sanctuary and home to marine turtles and exotic fish. Inland, Gangarama Maha Vihara is a Buddhist temple decorated with hand-painted murals.

Recommended equipment : a good zoom lens and one for landscapes

Best months : all year round better to avoid rainy season

How to get there : 120km south of Colombo. Taxi cost in Hikkaduva will be from 50 dollars of Colombo.Every day between Colombo and Hikkaduva several express buses go. They ply between the Central bus Colombo and Halle station or Matara. There are also night buses. All buses going to Gallet or Matara stop in Hikkaduva.
