Recommended equipment :Standard/Wide Angle Zoom - Fixed Bright for the evening / night - Medium telephoto (the 70-200 is ideal) - Light tripod (go up there eh!)I also recommend Polarizer/ND for landscape/architecture (removing people in the first place)
Best months :Ideal period: late Spring (May-June) for blooms and light on buildings | Early autumn (September-mid-October) for foliage in the first place and warm tones on the architecture. So-so period: Summer (a lot of tourism, although there are many more activities in the city and museums open for freeBad period: Winter (November-March) mainly due to the reduced daylight hours, the cold is bearable by covering up.
How to get there :faster and more practical: plane to Paris and then by train to Caen (a city that can be visited very well in a weekend) - about 3H more ecological: train milan paris and then train to Caen - about 14H cheaper (not recommended!) : bus - about 27H
