Subjects :Lighthouse, sheer cliff, sea with excellent ideas both for the natural landscape and for the landscape with human elements. From Cabo de Palos you can go for the Manga, a very long strip of land (17-18 km) very thin that creates a sort of semi-enclosed inland sea. It is not connected with the manga to the north (where there are salt pans with pink water), as it is broken by the sea. 60 km further north is the more famous Salinas de Torrevieja, which has always generated a pink salt lake. There were several bird photographers on site at dusk, but not at dawn. Probably the birds pass high above the sea and placing yourself on the sheer cliff you find them almost horizontal and well lit with the sunset behind you. At dawn I think they are backlit and there were no specialists of the genre.
Recommended equipment :From wide-angle to medium-telephoto for landscapes, tripod is also recommended in the hours of sunrise and sunset, as there are areas with strong light contrasts, such as lighthouse lit but rocks in the dark. Long canvases for birdlife, but it's not a genre I know.
Best months :I was in February and the weather was mild, sweatshirt and kway in the coldest hours. So I would recommend from autumn to spring. It's a different story for the summer, where I was told that very high temperatures can be reached. They also tell me that it hardly ever rains in this region.
How to get there :Getting there is very easy if you have a vehicle, with public transport I don't know. Thirty minutes from Cartagena (with an extra 15 minutes you can take a scenic drive). Three-quarters of an hour from Murcia. An hour and a half from Alicante. Almost three hours from Valencia.
Visits :The area is completely free and has ample parking. The lighthouse can be visited inside by purchasing a ticket, but it is advisable to book at a number that is easily found on google.
