Subjects : Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia and certainly the most tourist attraction in Cambodia. The archaeological park, set in extensive wooded tropical character, covers approximately 400 km2 and contains the remains of the capital of the magnificent Khmer civilization (9 - 15th century). Includes the famous temples of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Bayon. From the naturalistic rice fields, mangroves, orchids, elephants, various species of monkeys and tropical birds.

Recommended equipment : Standard zoom (like Canon 24-105), wide angle, tripod.

Best months : Outside the monsoon season (best from late November to January). Council end of November (period of the Water Festival, a national holiday in Cambodia).

How to get there : From Bangkok (Thailand), train to the border, then bus or taxis (considered almost a full day of travel). From Phnom Penh: fastest boat on the Tonle Sap (duration: 3-4 hours, highly recommended, excellent photo opportunities) or bus.

Visits : The entrance to the archaeological park costs 20 USD for 1 giono, 40 USD for 3 days, 60 USD for one week (usually 3 days is sufficient).
