Subjects : This area faces west on the Big Island of Hawaii. There are stunning sunsets, Sea Turtles, Honu, Hawaiian Petroglyphs, hibiscus, golf, sea shore, beach to photograph. Turtles can be found on the beaches that can be accessed by the coastal path that runs north and south along the shore. This trail also passes through fields of petroglyphs that add interest along the way.
Recommended equipment : Tripod, graduated neutral density filter or HDR capable camera, telephoto lens, wide angle, flash
Best months : I've had good luck all year long.
How to get there : Fly to Kailua Kona airport on the Big Island of Hawaii. Rent a car and drive north to 'Anaeho'omalu Bay. there are parking lots and you can access the beach between or through the hotels.
Visits : Beach access is free. There is a coastal path that is really cool to explore and takes you through fields of ancient petroglyphs and along beautiful shorelines with the occasional hot pond to swim in.
