Sì, il testimone del Foveon 35mm è passato alla Sigma fpL.
Quando uscì la fpL, Sigma la presentò con queste parole:

L'idea espressa da Sigma è quindi che la Foveon sensor legacy sia passata alla nuova fpL perché sarebbe tutta una questione di avere tanti megapixel a cui applicare la competenza sul colore del Foveon.
