Io uso la posizione 1 a mano libera. la 3 non mi offre la stabilizzazione a mirino e mi viene tutto piu' complicato. Su treppiedi dipende dai casi. A volte acceso altre disattivato |

la posizione 1 è idonea per soggetti fermi.
lo dice anche canon sul libretto della tua lente.ti metto alcuni copia incolla anche se alla fine ognuno deve usarlo come si trova meglio

durante un test the digital picture:
Mode 2 IS is used for panning with a subject. In this mode, only 1 axis of stabilization is provided - allowing the linearly-moving subject to be tracked.
The new mode 3 is used for tracking action. In mode 3, image stabilization is active and ready for use the moment the shutter releases, but actual stabilization is not in effect until that precise time. The view seen through the viewfinder is not stabilized. This means that you are able to follow your erratic-moving subjects without fighting against image stabilization trying to prevent you from doing the same. IS Mode 3 is designed to detect panning motion and when detected will only apply Image Stabilization at right angles to the direction of the detected movement (like IS Mode 2).
I immediately began using the new IS mode 3, though I was not completely convinced of my need for it when shooting action. If the action is fast, my shutter speed is generally fast enough to stop any camera motion present, so I shot action sports with IS turned off on the original 300mm f/2.8 IS Lens.
Especially when the light gets very low, I am indeed seeing some benefit from Mode 3 IS. My percentage of sharp shots has been noticeably higher than without Mode 3 IS in low light circumstances and I am also seeing fewer self-caused blurred shots even under normal shooting circumstances. So, I do see value in Mode 3 and now use it 100% of the time when shooting action.
You will hear some clicking and whirring when IS is active, but the IS implementation is very well behaved. By this I mean that the image in the viewfinder does not jump around when the system activates. In Mode 3, IS sound will be heard when the shutter release is half-pressed, but the image is not stabilized until the precise moment that the shot is taken.

I am simply fascinated by the mode-3 IS? I was confused on how this worked, as I never really read a clear description of it. To clarify for others, when you start to meter (say half-pressing the shutter or back button focusing) you hear the IS kick on as you would expect. However, the viewfinder does not stabilize. It appears like the IS is completely off. But when you go to take the image it instantaneously kicks on and stabilizes the image perfectly with no visual delay. I could not get over this! A really cool feature. Overall, the IS works extremely well and is actually really quiet (even more so than the 70-200 II). You hear a confident "chirp" when it turns on/off, but nothing during operation (unless you lay your ear on the lens). Big improvement over the Mark I when I rented it. The IS also behaves extremely well on a tripod to help combat faint vibrations when using telephotos on a tripod. No reason to turn off IS on this lens, as it actually benefits with tripod use! I think unless you are doing exposures over 1-second, the manual recommends to leave it on.

is3 si aziona quando si preme mezzo pulsante ma la sua azione nn si vede nel mirino.

Steff banalizzando il tutto dovrebbe essere 1 per soggetti fermi, 2 panning, 3 si attiva lo stabilizzatore ma non si vede a mirino. Personalmente nell'uso a mano libera non ho mai notato vantaggi nell'uso dello stabilizzatore in posizione 2. |

Infatti io uso la posizione 2  , che secondo me è il giusto compromesso per soggetti in movimento, i quali spesso si muovono su un asse, o giù di lì. Ovviamente non esiste la soluzione perfetta per tutti i casi, e per ogni esigenza! |

Allora, visto che si sta parlando di una reflex, lo stabilizzatore premendo a metà il pulsante di scatto (o l'af-on) si attiva ma non...stabilizza, cosa che fa quando si preme a fondo per scattare. Credo che faccia tutti i calcoli, ma non muova gli attuatori se non un'istante prima di aprire la tendina.
Oh magari ho capito male!!
@Guido: no, diciamo che i video non mi appassionano, ma appena ho un attimo faccio un confronto 1DX-5D3-7D2 con 100-400IS II, liscio e moltiplicato 1.4. Così, che son curioso pure io... |

Non non mi sembra proprio. La 5D3 mi SEMBRA più precisa. Ma più veloce no.
Mi ricordo che quando feci il controllo del 500IS II per la microtaratura AF sui tre corpi, rimasi sorpreso proprio per il comportamento sulla 1DX, visibilmente più veloce degli altri due corpi nel mettere a fuoco con l'ottica duplicata.

Sì mi sembra che sia equivalente, domani faccio la prova con il 100-400IS II, è un serie-II pure lui, in fondo. |

si Otto interessa anche a me, 7d2+100-400 2 serie+1,4 3serie,vorrei comprarli.Grazie per il test, impressionante la 1dx,si vede la batteria più potente peccato che Canon si fa pagare una batteria 3500 euro. |

Se ti riferisci alla differenza con la 5D3 (comunque minore di 3.500 euro), credimi, non sta solo nella batteria. Bastano pochi scatti per rendersene conto. |

E come no. I servo mica li muove il processore. Li muove la batteria e quelle delle serie 1 sono altra cosa rispetto alle LP-E6 della 5D3 o 7D2.
E non si può nemmeno pensare di migliorare col bg, visto che ne consuma una e poi usa l'altra quando termina, quindi sempre separate e mai in serie. |

Si ma allora non si capisce come mai liscio sia più veloce anche sulla 7D2, il moltiplicatore non credo aggiunga attriti... |
