fujifilm_gf80_f1-7wrFujifilm GF 80mm f/1.7 R WR

Pros: Sharpness, "strange" but very useful focal length.

Cons: Motor af, longitudinal ac in some cases.

Opinion: I share the opinions of those who wrote before me, so absolute sharpness, certainly ready for hyper dense future sensors (at f2.8 in the center it already exceeds the 100mp of the 100s). The focal length of 63mm eq. It's unusual but I use it very often because it focuses the attention more than the normal 50mm and at the same time it's more airy than the classic medium tele. Charcoal af engine, good blur but, subjectively, a little devoid of personality, after all optical perfection somehow has to be paid for... Perfection only from the point of view of sharpness, contrast and absence of purple fringing on the plane in focus. On the other hand, it has longitudinal ac, especially up to f2.8 which depending on the case can be annoying or not noticed, it should be taken into account if bought only for portraits. For general use such as landscape, or in any case in scenarios without strong and point lights or with low contrast, the problem does not exist.

fujifilm_gf20-35wrFujifilm GF 20-35mm f/4 R WR

Pros: Sharpness, flare resistance.

Cons: Diffraction at 20mm, distortion present.

Opinion: This lens offers a sharpness, as far as I'm concerned, never found in a zoom that starts at 16mm eq. From 20mm to 30mm at f4 it's great and at f5.6 it becomes extraordinary up to the extreme angles. Fine details are rendered to perfection even on 100mp. Above 30mm it requires an f8 closure to be perfect, i.e. to take advantage of the 100s' sensor. On the 50SII already at f5.6 it is an extraordinary lens at every focal length and in every area of the photo. The flare resistance is remarkable, the af is quiet and very precise. Indoors being f4 would require a camera with some sensitivity on the af... the weak point of the 100s and even worse than the 50SII. The distortion at 20mm is there but it's not dramatic, the software correction doesn't stretch the image too much. Already at 23mm when compared to the fixed it has better distortion, similar sharpness and equal weight. This is to give an idea of the extraordinary object created by Fuji engineers. The real weakness of this 20-35mm is the diffraction at 20mm. This focal length is the sharpest but it has this defect that, at least for me, is a nuisance. As mentioned above at f5.6 it's awesome... but at f8 it drops! At f11 it is already almost unusable on the 100s and even on the 50SII it is very noticeable. F5.6 is the pinnacle and it's a real shame not to be able to aperture, without suffering such a noticeable drop. Already at 23-24mm the problem is much less invasive, at 28mm or 35mm f11 and even f13 you can use it without problems for example. Either way, it's still an amazing wide-angle zoom, and I'd definitely buy it again.

Pros: Image quality

Cons: Af

Opinion: The greatest advantage of this machine is the resolution combined with the cleanliness of the file and therefore the consequent great versatility in the post-production phase. Consider that cropping the photograph to 2x you have a file with 20mp left, enough for medium-sized prints and abundant for web use. When you don't need 100mp, like for Sunday trips, I happen to use it with only 20-35mm and taking into account the crop factor 0.8x it's like having a 20mp 16-70mm of very high quality, and with tolerable size and weight. Obviously, the real potential comes to the fore when you take full advantage of the resolution, which is obvious given the amount of information present. Ergonomically it is almost perfect and even on the software side it is quite simple to set up. The ISO seal is great, better than the 50S II I had before this one. 6400 iso can be used without fear even in environments such as churches or poorly lit places; Even at these sensitivities there is still a bit of room for recovery on lights and shadows. Of course the complete cleaning is achieved at lower isos like all other machines, and there you can scramble the file mercilessly! The af almost makes the chickens laugh, I say almost because the 50SII makes them laugh completely. In closed environments, especially if poorly lit and with warm lights such as the typical rooms where we live, it is difficult to hook up. In his partial defense, it must be said that he is precise. In a lot of light it's fine and gets pretty fast. The stabilizer is very effective, with the 80mm you shoot at 1/20 and the photo is still, and a still photo with 100mp at 1/20 is not something to be taken for granted. The viewfinder is decent, the magnification is perfect but it's the resolution that's just enough, anyway it's usable. The rear monitor is comfortable while not being fully articulated. The overall construction is very good. Overall a machine that is worth all the 4400 euros it is at today with cashback. I would also say something more for the extraordinary image quality.
