Iran/Hamadan, Seljuk Dynasty. Reconstructed in the Pahlavi Dynasty. Baba Taher Oryan was one of the famous poets in mid-fifth century A.H. and was contemporary with Tughril Beik Seljuk. Baba was a nickname bestowed in the past were upon the pious followers, and Oryan (bare) was the epithet given to him because he had given up worldly concerns. Baba Taher`s songs or couplets are written in the lory dialect. His works are as follows: Two pieces, several lyrics in the lory dialect, a collection of aphorisms in Arabic and a book entitled “the upshot”. His poems are full of pleasant meanings and tender emotions. Baba Taher has writthen 326 A.H. in one of his famous couplets in Abjad letters as his birthday. He passed away after 85 years of living with full passion and love. Baba Taher's tomb is located in a large square bearing his name in the northern part of the Hamedan city. The building of Baba taher's tomb has been renovated several times in the past. In the sixth century A.H. his tomb was an octagonal brick tower. In the reign of the first king of the Pahlavi Dynasty, another brick building was built instead of it. During the reconstruction, a turquoise slate tile related to the seventh A.H. was discovered, which had an outstanding inscription in Kufic, and also some verses from the Quran, and at present, is kept in the National Museum of Iran. The new building was constructed in 1344 A.H. (1965) by the Association of National Heritage and the municipality of the Hamadan city. Some of the elders and scholars that have been buried near the tomb of Baba Taher are : Muhammad Ibn Abdul Aziz who was one of the literary men in the third century A.H., scholars and jurists Abul Fath As`ad from the sixth century, Haji Mirza Ali Naji Kosar who was a scientist in thirteenth century, Maftoon Hamadani who was one of the poets in fourteenth century. This monument with No. 1780 in 21 rd Ordibehesht 1376 A.H. (11 May 1997) has been registered in the list of iran National Heritage.
